Facebook Cover Photo: Princess Layuh
Update, and revision, of an old image. The Force was with me:
I am going to have to think of a corny joke to replace "the Force" if this turns into a thing....

Hospital Sketch #1: Flower Girl
My father is in the hospital with pancreatitis. In an effort to not yammer at him for hours on end while he tries to rest, I sketched while I sat with him.

I keep missing Dr. Sketchy's!
I keep missing Dr. Sketchy's events...totally unacceptable on my part! This time I even missed the one that was very close by due to a combination of the Temple Owls dashing my hopes yet again and work that was sent to me at 4pm on Friday.
I found some sketches from the first Dr. Sketchy's - Philly event I had ever attended a few years back (Stoya, modelling as Death), so I'll throw these up and hope to make the next event (excuse the poor quality scans...and sketches...excuse them as well):

SketchUp Sample #2
I finally downloaded the updates for the new SketchUp and tried it out with an interior model of the county's disaster recovery warehouse:
The output on the current free version still looks the same as the old version, and some of the 3D warehouse models I used really slowed things down, but I still like the program and think it has a ton of potential applications.

Ventnor Truck
I was part of a wonderful ballpark volunteer construction project today in Ventnor, NJ (I should note that I coordinate County committees...the Construction Committee has too much good sense to actually allow me anywhere near construction materials and tools!). While trapped up front, watching the check in desk, I managed to fit in a quick ballpoint pen/back of a form sketch of the public works truck parked nearby.

KHV's Water Bottle
I had the chance to work on an independent film recently called "The Urn" (I played a dad, which is frightening...perfect for a horror film). The writer/director always carried a huge water bottle with him, so between scenes, I was able to sketch a bit with watercolor pencils and the water pen.

Dr.Sketchy’s Philadelphia - Game of Thrones
"The night was bright, and full of wonder." That's how the saying goes, right?
On March 27th, Dr. Sketchy's Philly managed to feed my obsessions with a Game of Thrones themed night over at the Philadelphia Art Museum! I was late, the place was packed with knights of summer, bravos, hedge knights, and camp followers..., and it was all still amazing!
Nothing fancy on my part this time - all quick, pencil sketches (but for Jon Snow's bit of watercolor pencil and water pen). You can see my vantage point from the pic above, so a lot of side and back sketches this time.
I would really like to make the final sketch into a black and white digital image. I'll have to mull it over a bit more, and see what I can come up with.

Jake Matthews as Jon Snow, and Amy Houser as Brienne of Tarth |
Amy Houser in her awesome suit of armor, again, as Brienne of Tarth |
Meagan Rumberger as Dany and Jim Black as Drogo. |
The theme of the final sketch was to incorporate dragons and stallions in the image. After this pose, Jim proposed to Meagan via a fake pose request! Congratulations to the couple! |

Not a Mouse Guard Sketch?
A quick pencil sketch, taking the concept in a different direction (i.e. not in that universe). I envision this being a cupboard or crumb spirit/sprite, guarding forgotten food in your home. In this way, I guess it could be an ally or enemy of little animals adventuring in your home.

Mouse Guard Sketches
I was in the book store the other day (seriously, a few still exist), and saw a "Mouse Guard" rpg game box. I liked the illustrations quite a bit. A few homage Sharpie sketches followed:

WIP: Griff / Jon Connington
I did a bit of digital work on the ASoIaF sketch of Griff (i.e. Jon Connington) I previously posted:

Man on Train
Coming back from an audition in New York today, I was lacking in subjects to secretly paint. This was the best angle I could get....

Friends Don't Let Friends Draw Friends III: Watercolor Pencil Practice
A few friends took the time to like the Van Gogh practice image on Facebook. As a punishment for their kindness, the first seven ended up as references for practice on the following day.
All of the below are single-color watercolor brush; I am still not comfortable with the watercolor brush yet (and watercolors in general), so I kept it simple.
