Warm-Up Sketch: Female Thor

Done quickly last night as part of an office Pollyanna gift:

I couldn't find an Avengers scarf for the son of the person I had, so I went with a picture of them dressed as Thor and a faux-SHIELD letter telling her to give this "photo" to her son.

I really have to stop...

...using people I meet as image references.  It is an addiction.  I know it.  Are there support groups for this sort of thing?  "Hello, my name is Brian and I cannot resist drawing hot women I meet..."?  No?  Nothing?

Warm-up Sketch: Orochimaru

Great villain.  The series went down hill as they phased him out.

I have been very frustrated with my tablet and with photoshop recently, I went back to my old 4x6 and Manga Studio 4.  I felt like I had control over my strokes again, and Manga Studio's pens feel like drawing with a pen.

Great boss was great!

One of the best bosses a person could have passed away a few months back.  This was an ink-with-water portrait insert I painted to give to his wife.

Thanks for everything, Henry!

Warm Up Sketch: Zaheer (Legend of Korra)

Great villain, along with his best quote!  Henry Rollins is killing it as Zaheer, and Book 3 of Korra has been superb (I didn't think they would be able to top Book 1, but it might be close at this point).

Friends don't let friends...

...paint their children...aged up about 20 years...on posters?

Doing this as a first birthday present for the daughter of two friends.  I'll get to a printer and send off the poster as soon as possible.  Posting this low-res version between full time and extra time of the World Cup, and hoping the parents aren't actually paying any attention to the blog!

Suarez? Pacman!?

I am not saying Luis Suarez is Pacman, but I have never seen them at the same place at the same time!

Retro Splash

Digging through an old folder, I discovered an old splash page for some long forgotten project.  This may be from the first year I had a copy of Photoshop (PS7?) together with a Wacom (4x5 Graphire?) tablet:

The influence of Cowboy Bebop, and Venture Bros credits,
is strong here it seems...
I still have the small Wacom, and I am still tempted to use it on certain images.  Using it for so long I had developed a good feel for it, so when I run into trouble on a project I immediate think to myself it would somehow be easier with the more comfortable device.

Hospital Sketch #5: The Sleeping 'Stache

I have avoided sketching my father at all, but since he has been feeling better these last 4-5 days, I wanted to tease him a bit about his mustache.  He is always clean-shaven, so the fact that the nurses always leave him with a 'stache of some sort was a prime opportunity to break his balls a bit.  I had to catch him while he was sleeping:
